$100 limits!! Game structures

As I posted the other day we received approval for the $100 Texas Holdem limits at The Drift.  We are spreading two versions of the $100 limit game, giving people of all sized bankrolls the chance to experience "Max Limit" poker.

We have a daily 3-100 game with a $100 min and $500 max buy in.  This is the traditional form of the big spread limit game, pots last night exceeded $1000.00 at times.  Players no longer need to go to a tribal casino to experience high limit poker.

The second version of the $100 game is very exciting and unique to The Drift.  This is a 2-100 spread game with a $40 min./$40 max. buy in.  All you can buy is $40 in chips, but you can bet up to $100...after you earn them.  After one or two people accumulate chips at the table, the small stacks take shots at the larger stacks.  The game has a true no limit tourney feel where you can risk a little to win a lot.

As with all our high hands these games are eleigible for our hourly $499 high hands.  Come to The Drift and play in the Big Game, or play the Big Little Game, $40 min/max.

See you soon!

$100 limit at the Drift!

I'm off to my son's football game before work tonight so I will keep this brief.  We got approval today for $100 poker limits today.  We will be spreading a 3-100 spread tonight similar in structure to Hollywood and the Hideaway, with a slightly larger buy in..  Tomorrow we will unveil our own twist to $100 spread in addition to the traditional 3-100 game.

This game will be a natural for tournament players and those who do not have a bankroll for the big 1-3 game, but still want the excitement of getting "all in".

Tune in to this blog tomorrow or come by and see me at the Drift tonight to get complete details.  Mention this blog or the Drift facebook page for a $25 match play!

The First Week Done

Thank you all for an amazing first week.  I took an entire day off after five consecutive nights of flooring.  However, as much as I enjoyed the time with the family, I can't wait to get back into the Drift tomorrow.  I am going to start my day by playing in our tournament at 10:15 am.  We have been averaging three full tables, about the same as Parkers.  Other local casinos have been reduced to single tables for their morning tournament as players realize they can't beat the value our structure and added money provide.

We should get approval Monday or Tuesday for out $100.00 limit.  With the $499 high hand we offer and the great match plays in the Pit, we should pick up two of the $100 spread daily games being played in the Shoreline area.

I also can't wait to divulge the new twist the Drift has for the $100 spread.  One of the games will be a 3-100 with a minumum of $60.00 buy-in and a maximum of $300.00.  This is a big game and we have the player base to support this.  The second version I will unveil this week will provide those who have smaller bankrolls or who crave great action and alternative to losing $300 on one hand.  This will be the hottest game in town, stay tuned!

On a friendly note, I spoke to my friend James Nyguen the owner of The Grove in Everett last week.  It looks like he is putting together things to get The Grove opened up again very soon.  I wish him the best!  This is a competative business but I will always have a soft spot in my heart for The Grove.

Thanks for a great first week, I will post again tomorrow or Tuesday when the $100 limit is approved.

WE ARE OPEN!!!!

Tuesday October 18, 2010 the doors of the Drift On In will open.  We will start our day with a Texas Holdem tournament  at10:15am. The buy in will be $35 dollars and the house is adding $300.00.  We made a small change in the structure that will allow alternates in at anytime provided they sign up prior to the end of the second round.

The value of a tournament with only a five dollars house fee and $300 added is incredible.  The prize pool for 30 players will be $1200 dollars, the same as a tournament at a nearby cardroom with a $50 buy in a $10 house fee and no added money.  In addition, every player who signs up for the tournament receives a $10 match play.  Where else do you get essentially paid to take a chance win big money.

After the tournament is over, our first hourly high hand pays out at noon.  We are giving away $200 an hour until 6pm, then we give away $499 until midnight.  The best games, the best equipment and the best giveaways The Drift has it all!

Attached is a tournament structure sheet and high hand schedule.  Come see us at The Drift.

It's All About The People

I have been reflecting on the past month today about all the work it has taken to get the Drift open for business and I came to the conclusion that I work with some amazing people.

Everyone pitched in from the owners to the new hires to get us ready to open on Tuesday.  It didn't matter what department a person worked in, we all jumped in and got the work done.

It is this type of true teamwork that will make the Drift a success.  During our employee orientations I have been preaching that the Drift is a family, and nothing could be truer.  We have all worked hard, then at the end of the day we played hard.  This work ethic will carry on long after we are open.

It is true we are giving away a lot of money and doing a tremendous amount of advertising to open the Drift with a bang.  However, our success will be as a direct result of our people.  The buzz around the gaming community about the opening of the Drift has been heartwarming to hear.  This Buzz  has been about the people, not the place; the Mitchell family, a talented management team and most importantly a crew of frontline dealers and servers who are the best at what the do.

The Drift would succeed without a dollar of promotion money, the staff is that good.  That said, we are giving away a lot of money and match plays, so come experience the best staff and the business and win some of the free money given away daily.

Thanks to all my fellow Drift employees, I can't wait to move forward and and make The Drift the most successful and entertaining casino in Washington.  I will see you all October 19!!!

We have a license!

We got approval from the gambling commision today!   The Drift On Inn is going to open at 10:00 am Tuesday October 19.  We will be having a poker tournament at 10:15 am, $35 buy in with the house adding $300 dollars to the prize pool.

There will be live games beginning at 10:00 am sharp daily.  Come check out the Drift and see this amazing casino in person.  The remodel work we did was remarkable.  The place retained all the old charm of the Drift, but has modern touches.

The rear bar and the upstairs night club have chrome accents and modern paint schemes that blend in nicely with the historical aspects of the building.  There is new carpet adjacent to The Lafayette Antique Mirror Bar, a 165 year old architectual masterpiece worthy of a visit to the Drift just to appreciate the old world craftsmanship.

The greatest imrovement to the building from a players perspective is the improved lighting.  Hats off to our lighting consultant whose reccomendation to increase gaming lighting while retaining the intimate charm of the Drift.  Don't believe the hype,  the Drift is not a dark dungeon to play cards in.

I can't wait to get this party started! Our giveaways and our staff are unmatched by anyone in the area.  We are giving away $5000 daily in the poker room and have some very unique promotions set up for the pit.  We are bringing back match plays to Shoreline!

Attached are photos taken by Heidi Stafford, one of our talented dealers as well as a professional photographer.  As amazing as these pictures are, come see the changes at the Drift for yourself!

The finishing touches!

I'm sitting in my favorite chair at home drinking coffee on a rainy Sunday morning.  It's like hanging out with an old friend that I haven't seen in a while.  This last month I have pretty much been living at the Drift getting things ready to open.  I am very fortunate that I have such wonderful support from Heidi at home during this busy time.

I want to also take a moment thank Kiyome for all her help.  She has been at mine and Scotty's side all week helping us get ready to open.  We could not have gotten to this point without her.

I am going in today to work on some paperwork with Roy Lopez, one of our pit managers.  Our punch list is getting shorter and shorter, we are down to the finishing touches.  Roy is just one of the amazing people I have had the privelege to meet and work with at the Drift.

Team work or team management are catch phrases some companies use but in reality don't practice..leaving major and minor decisions alike to the owner or General Manager.  The Drift has been a breath of fresh air, with the Mitchell's having the faith in the talented management group they have hired to do their jobs.

Stay tuned for more updates!

PS

Most positions have been filled at this point,  but if you are the best at what you do come see me or give me a call.  Giving respect to our competitors we have not been directly solicitating employees.

Orientation begins!

Today we started new employee orientation.  This place is buzzing getting ready for our walk with the gambling commission next week.

The orientation was amazing!  As looked into the faces of people it looked like an allstar cast of dealers.  Come see us for our first night October 15!

Poker Tables Are Here!

We had a great meeting this morning with the Gambling Commission and a next week grand opening is still in the works!  Six brand new poker tables were put in place today and they look amazing!  We went with black speed cloth so everyone can see the cards and the dealers can get more hands per hour out for your gaming pleasure.

The cards glide across the felt so quick even I could deal.  There are six tables so everyone will have a chance to to play in the $300 dollars added tournament with 20,000 starting chips at 10:00 in the morning and try for the $499.00 high hands at night.  We will be spreading 4-8, 2-10, 3-40 and the brand new 3-100 max limit holdem daily.  And don't worry omaha players, you know Scotty and I will have the best omaha games in town available to you!

This week we will be going through employee orientation.  I feel relieved, most of our poker staff is in place with only the best dealers having been hired.  We will be deciding on the last couple of open spots this week and getting cards in the air next week.

I can't wait to see you all next week.  If you are in the industry and want to sneak a peak at the room give me a shout.

Thanks!

Jerry
